The Hidden Road Explorer

How it works:

The Hidden Road Explorer concept: from less guided to completely self-guided learning and adventure.

The Hidden Road Explorer Concept is simple: Many of us travelers actually like to get lost. Well . . . how

about Lost in a Good Way?

It’s the idea that it’s actually fun to explore on your own; to not always know exactly where the road

you’re on is going; and that what happens along the way – the chance meetings, the conversations, the

hospitality, the insights, the unexpected authentic human sights – are the real highlights of any travel

experience.

So we’re making getting lost (in a good way) a focal point of our services.

The basics for small groups, college groups, and school groups:

Hidden Road Travel will set up your travel – all logistics, complete itinerary, accommodations, activities,

and even local guides. What you get is a more independent travel style (and with that, a greater

opportunity to learn travel skills and to practice “independence” in another culture), and a less-

expensive trip (because you’re not paying for a dedicated guide throughout the trip, and because a

greater proportion of meals will be “on your own”).

Just the right amount of guide support to feel “connected” in an exciting, new place; just the right amount of independence to let you savor the adventure, boost your confidence as a savvy world traveler, and come and go as you wish.  It’s the best of both worlds.

Highlights of the less-guided style – i.e. the Hidden Road Explorer:

  1. Bullet travel like the locals; enjoy the feeling of “I can go where I want to go”

  2. Bullet stay in friendly, beautifully-located hotels, that put you in the midst of the culture you want to explore

  3. Bullet enjoy the insights, stories, and knowledge of local guides – natives of the places you’re exploring

  4. Bullet take advantage of the lowest costs that can be found in group travel

  5. Bullet enjoy interaction with the locals at restaurants, shops, hotels, and “on the street”

  6. Bullet allow your group to sub-divide for different exploration options, in accord with your comfort level and desire or interest

  7. Bullet relish the “natural interaction” between your world view, beliefs, and assumptions, and the “places” you encounter – learning in its purest form – unfettered by someone else’s context or interpretation
